Keep America Beautiful did a 2020 National Litter Study. The study determined, among other things, there is about 152 items of litter for every U.S. resident. In response they have issued a challenge to pick up and properly dispose of 152 items of litter each. The idea is if everyone took individual action to pick up 152 pieces of litter (all at once) there would be no litter on the ground unless someone littered again.
As part of the Great American Cleanup, Keep America Beautiful is mailing free clean up kits to individuals who register as a volunteer, while supplies last. Kits contain a litter picker, garbage bags, work gloves, scale, ad reflective vest.
